Description
A spectacular evergreen Azalea with interesting and colorful foliage and flowers, ‘Arctic Rose’ features abundant clusters of brilliant rosy red flowers that nearly cover the foliage in spring. After the bloom the evergreen, variegated dark green leaves edged in white take the stage and shine throughout the rest of the year on a shrub that reaches 3 to 4 feet tall and 4 to 5 feet wide. Though it will tolerate full sun in Zones 5 and 6, we suggest some afternoon shade in the warmer climates of zones 7 and 8. A beauty and conversation piece that will provide year round interest and color to light up partially shaded areas in garden beds or containers.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 3 to 4 feet tall and 4 to 5 feet wide, Arctic Rose Azalea is ideal for use as an accent, in groupings or as a colorful hedge in partially shade landscape and woodland borders. Also nice in home foundation plantings. Butterflies love the flowers, and blooming branches serve very well for cutting to create stunning indoor floral arrangements. A fine addition to Azalea and Rhododendron gardens, pink or red theme gardens, butterfly gardens, Asian gardens and cottage gardens.
Spacing: 3 to 3.5 feet apart for solid hedges; 8’+ for space between plants
Growing Preferences
The Arctic Rose Azalea is easy to grow in a moist but well-drained, organically rich, acidic soil of average or better fertility and part shade. Full sun is tolerated in Zones 5 and 6 but some filtered sun or shade will be appreciated during the afternoon in zones 7 and 8.

I am from Georgia and I was missing the beautiful spring azalea show the first couple of years I lived in Kansas. I looked in every local nursery and could not find anything I liked. The search began. I received a tip from my sister, who still lives in Georgia, to try this online nursery. The BEST decision ever. The plants come very firmly packaged. They are healthy with established roots – in pots, not bare roots. What an unexpected treasure! Springtime will burst with the feeling of home.————————————————We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy them for years to come! Thanks for the kind words and great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
