Description
One of the best of the sun and heat-tolerant evergreen Southern Indica Azaleas, ‘Mrs. GG Gerbing’ displays LOADS of large, 3 to 4 inch showy funnel-shaped bright white flowers that nearly cover the foliage on large, mounding evergreen shrubs 6 to 8 feet tall and wide. A fine selection for a natural hedge or a sunny to partially shaded woodland border.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing in a large mound 6 to 8 feet tall and wide over time, the G. G. Gerbing Azalea is most useful as a natural hedge or in small to large groupings in landscape borders. The plants perform exceptionally well under tall pine trees. Also ideal for use as accents, corner plants or as espalier against large open walls in home foundation plantings. Lower branches can also be removed to form an attractive small evergreen tree serves well as a focal point in the landscape or large containers. A fine addition to Azalea gardens, purple theme gardens and cottage gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 5 feet apart for solid hedges; 12 feet or more apart for space between plants
Note: For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 5a, where this Azalea variety is not reliably winter hardy outdoors, you can enjoy it in containers that can be moved indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.

Growing Preferences
Southern Indica Azaleas are very easy to grow. They prefer a moist but well-drained acidic soil that is rich in organic matter and full sun to part shade. That said, we think they perform and look their best with a little shade or filtered sunlight during the hottest part of summer afternoons. Established plants have good drought tolerance.

The three azaleas I ordered arrived in perfect condition and they were perfect specimens, too. Not a blemish or yellow leaf on any of them. The packing was so impressive I briefly wondered how to break into the box to release the azaleas. None of the soil had escaped the pots, either. I will definitely order from this nursery again.——————Thanks for the great review! We are so glad you are pleased! Beth | WBG
I bought 4-5 of these GG Gerbings… they are gorgeous and extremely healthy. However, one of them is a cross between George Tabor and GG Gerbing. See below photo ————————– WBG Reply: Hi Neal: Thanks so much for your review of the G.G Gerbing Azaleas…though in looking at the photo you attached it appears as though what happened with the one is that two different rooted cuttings were accidentally used to grow the one plant that looks like a cross with George Taber. You can keep this plant, which will be a novelty if you decide to plant it somewhere in your garden, and we’ll be sending you out another G.G. Gerbing. Thanks again and let us know if there’s every anything else we can do for you. We’re at your service! Brent | Wilson Bros Gardens
