Description
Simply stunning from the time it starts flowering in early fall and continuing through mid-winter, October Magic Pink Perplexion Camellia produces LOADS of truly double, gorgeous soft to true-pink flowers against a backdrop of glossy, rich green foliage. One of our favorites in the October Magic series and we think it’ll be one of yours as well!
Landscape & Garden Uses
A smaller growing Camellia with a sprawling, mounding growth habit, it grows to about 4-5 feet tall and 4-5 feet wide (depending on pruning), October Magic Pink Perplexion is ideal for use as an accent, in groupings, as a hedge or background plant, and is especially nice as espalier (trained to grow flat against a wall) in home foundation plantings. Great for cottage gardens, cut flower gardens and woodland borders. Also suitable for containers that can be brought indoors overwinter for those who live above USDA Zone 7a, where not winter hardy. Spacing: 3′ for solid hedge; 6’+ for space between plants
Note: For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 7a, where this Camellia variety is not reliably winter hardy, you’ll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.
Growing Preferences
Camellia adapt well to various soil types however prefer a moist but well-drained acidic soil that is rich in organic matter. Constantly soggy soil is a slow killer. In general, Camellia grows and blooms better in partial shade with some shelter from the hot afternoon sun. Morning sun with afternoon shade or filtered sunlight is perfect. All-day filtered sun is fine.

Very pleased with the new pink camellias that we just purchased in October. All four of the 3-gallon plants were reasonably sized, nicely shaped, and well cared for with healthy bright green leaves and an abundance of buds. None were root bound, each of them potted in a loose, amended planting mix.
These were specifically chosen for both size and color to sit just below a bay window in front of our house. They’re all set to go in a nice, amended bed just behind a beautiful Japanese maple that turns brilliant red in the fall. Crossing our fingers that we will get to see a full color display of both pink and red each year during the fall season.———————————————————————-We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy them for years to come! Thanks for the kind words and wonderful review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
