Description
If you like multicolor flowers that keep coming all summer long, ‘Rainbow Marcella’ Echinacea aims to please. She features large coneflowers with muted shades of orange to golden gently reflexed petals with a pink halo surrounding a prominent dark bronze cone. The long-lasting flowers come on sturdy stems over a long period from early summer to early fall on compact plants up 18 inches tall and maybe 2 feet wide. This makes her a perfect fit for smaller gardens spaces and containers. A truly beautiful and captivating display in the garden and in fresh or dried cut flower flower arrangements. As with other versions of our North American native coneflowers, this one is an easy-to-grow and low maintenance hardy perennial that is drought tolerant when established and which deer tend to turn their nose up to.
Landscape & Garden Uses
At only 18 inches tall and maybe 24 inches wide, the Rainbow Marcella Coneflower is ideal for use as an accent in smaller garden spaces and containers or grouped in sunny to lightly shaded perennial and woodland borders. A fine addition to butterfly gardens, cut flower gardens, cottage, wildflower gardens and meadow gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 18 to 24 inches apart for groupings or mass plantings; 4 feet apart for space between plants.
Growing Preferences
Yellow Rainbow Marcella Coneflower is an easy to grow and adaptable plant that is tolerant of drought, heat, humidity and poor soil. It prefers a moist to damp and well-drained soil of average fertility but will tolerate low fertility soils. Will flower heavier in full sun but also blooms quite well in part shade. We suggest at least 5 hours of direct sunlight per day for best overall performance. Spent flowers can be removed through the long bloom season, but do leave some towards the end of the season for the birds to enjoy.
