Description
Easy to grow and vigorous, the Superstar Green and Gold Chysogonum is a native groundcover that lives up to its name. ‘Superstar was selected for its enhanced vigor, clean foliage throughout the season, and dense, clumping growth habit. A profusion of golden yellow flowers in mid to late spring and sporadically throughout the season stand just above a carpet of lush green foliage. A plant that is right at home in woodland settings and is ideal as a border along walks, paths and garden beds. Butterflies and other beneficial insects will thank you for planting this one but the deer will turn their nose up to it.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing to about 6 inches tall and spreading18 inches or more, Superstar Green and Gold Chrysogonum is ideal for use in sunny or shady woodland borders and as a border along paths or around patios. Also an attractive small or large space groundcover around shrubs and under trees. A fine addition to North American native plant gardens, butterfly gardens, yellow theme gardens, rock gardens and woodland gardens.
Suggested Spacing:Â 15 to 18 inches apart for mass plantingsÂ
Growing Preferences
Superstar Green and Gold Chrysogonum is easy to grow in most any average, moist but well-drained soil in sun or part to full shade. It prefers a consistently moist soil rich in organic matter but doesn’t like standing water. Just keep in mind that the more sun it gets the more water it will need.
